3 must have summer nail polish colors for 2015

The summer is here and every girl needs a well stocked makeup drawer that includes fun summer nail polish colors. We need versatile nail polish colors that can be worn at the beach, going out to the latest supper club, a day at the spa, shopping at the annual street sale, outdoor festivals and yes even at work. Here are 3 colors that I currently have that I think are an absolute must have. 2 bright fun nail polish colors and 1 more classic subdued color. All these nail polishes are from Essie which is a great nail polish brand that offers quality at an affordable price. And who doesn't love the names they come up with. I wish I was part of their marketing team.

Here are my 3 fav nail polish colors:

double breasted jacket - a mix of hot pink, red and fuchsia

sunday funday - coral

mademoiselle - a classic pink

For my second nail polish giveaway, I will be giving away all three colors to 1 lucky winner.

The contest is open to U.S and Canadian residents. I will ship to Canada or United States only. If I cannot contact you within 7 days of the contest end date, another participant will be chosen as the winner. The contest begins June 19th, 2015 and ends on July 19th, 2015.

A great summer nail polish option

Gel nails last extra long, so for lazy people like me gel nails are a great option. I think getting gel nails every second is probably not good. Moderation is key to a healthy life. Here is a great gel nail polish option for the summer: Caijun Shrimp by OPI.

Ciajun shrimp is light red nail. I believe it can be considered a coral nail color polish. I absolutely love this color. It is great for nice hot day that involves sipping a cold drink on a trendy restaurant patio.

You could pick this up for: $26.99 on or $12.50 on

Here are some other great summer options:

Purple blue nail polish color

Beach in a bottle nail polish color

Yellow nail polish color

Are gel nails bad for you?

Gel nails are great because they last around 2 - 4 weeks long with minimal maintenance. However, are gel nails good for you? Here are some tips about gel nails:

1. When gel nails start chipping do not try to rip it off yourself

Since gel nails are more stronger than nail polish, when you rip it off by biting or by scrapping it you will end up ruining your nails. This definitely needs to be avoided. If you want to remove your gel nails, go see your manicurists or nail technician to have them clean off the old gel nails.

2. Too much is not good for you

To remove gel nails, acetone is used. This can irritate the skin around the nail. In addition, UV light is used to cure the gel nails. So too much too often is definitely not good for your skin.

Doing gel manicures 3 to 4 times a year is probably okay. But, you should probably realize that it can irritate your skin and weaken your nails. So avoid try to remove the gel nails yourself and visit a dermatologist if you see any type of skin irritation.
